Why me...??

This isn't a self indulgent question after something has gone wrong, it's a why should you work with a mental performance scientist type question.

In the world of sports, performance scientists are often described as the 1%, the marginal gain that's often the difference between Olympic gold, and silver.

I think this is a complete underestimation of the power of working on your mindset - here's why....

Your brain runs your body, yet, we spend all our time (and money) focusing on the blood and bones part. If we pull a muscle we'll get it fixed by a physio, if we hurt our back we see a chiropractor, if we get an infection we get anti-biotics from a doctor. Yet when we get anxious before a race, or nervous about a particular part of doing something we never go and see a mental performance scientist?

Why is that?

Is it because we worry about the stigma of talking, and opening up about the mental side of things, are we worried some childhood event will be brought up, are we worried it's a sign of weakness? The answer to any of these is probably yes, however this isn't the case.

You go to the gym to work your muscles, so surely working your brain is a positive thing? Conditioning your mindset is positive performance and this really should be embraced.

If your opposition see you looking confident, and hear you speaking confidently they are immediately going to be on the back foot and will probably talk themselves out of trying to beat you, this has to be a good thing surely?

Back to my original question. Why me?

For the last 12 years I've worked with people from all walks of life on an array of different issues. I've been fortunate to work with racing drivers and teams who race at the highest levels, in Formula 1, Touring Cars, British and European GT drivers. I've worked with athletes who have won Olympic and Paralympic medals. I've worked with pro golfers, rugby players, football players, even a national cheerleading team.

In the corporate world I've worked with CEO's, Executive leadership teams, all the way through to production operatives and cleaners.

One thing all these people have in common, is trust. They trust me to be able to discuss things they wouldn't normally be able to talk about with other people, they know what they discuss with me, stays with me; I don't share their problems any more than a Dr would.

They also know that through my many years of experience they will get positive results, and very fast. They will leave with tools they can work with straight away to help continue their growth mindset.

So, next time you feel anxious, nervous, stressed or lacking in confidence please get in touch. Give your brain the same care and attention you would give your body, I promise you won't regret it as you will go away with a more positive and confident approach to whatever you do.
